What genres do you accept?

Logical-Lust Publications accepts romance, erotic romance, and erotica, plus all their sub-genres. What we can accept can range from historical romance to sci-fi erotica. What is more important to us is originality and creativity.

How do you decide what stories you accept?

Put simply, it’s what we like, what we think can fit into our catalogue, what we consider to be well written, and what we think will sell. A publisher’s decision on whether to accept any specific submission is based just as much on business reasons as it is on subjectivity. If you have read any of our books, you will understand what we mean.

What fees do I pay?

None. Nada. Zero. There are no fees or publication costs for the author. We are neither a vanity press nor a subsidy press.

Do you pay royalties or one-off payments?

Usually for anthologies we will make one-off payments, agreed in advance, for contributors. For novels and single-author collections we will make royalty payments on sales made. In the case of single short stories we may offer/negotiate for either one-off payments or royalties.

Do you pay advances?

The decision to pay an author an advance is dependent on several factors, but yes we do pay advances sometimes.

Do you accept simultaneous submissions?

No. Simple as that. Simultaneous submissions lead to nothing but problems for both authors and publishers. When you submit to us we will provide you with a timescale for initial consideration, and another should we decide to take a closer look at it. If we find a submission has been simultaneously submitted elsewhere, we will drop it, and/or withdraw any contract offer, and will not accept any future submissions from said author(s). This may seem harsh but we have, unfortunately, had authors withdraw their submissions because they were simultaneously submitted. A lot of work goes into each and every book we publish. If an author withdraws his/her submission because they want to go with another publisher, that is time wasted that could have gone to another book  (perhaps even yours) whose author had been waiting patiently, and properly.

How much marketing do I have to do?

How successful do you want yourself or your books to be? The more you put in to marketing and promotion, the more you’ll get in return. We won’t pretend it’s easy; you’re competing with thousands of other hopeful, ambitious authors. Hard work pays off. We require, at least, a basic marketing plan from our authors, prior to granting a contract.

Do you sell only from your own site(s)?

No we don’t. We distribute our books through several distribution networks, both for ebooks and print books. You can find books from Logical-Lust Publications on the websites of all major retailers and numerous independent online sellers.

Are your books in bookstores?

The only people who decide whether a book is stocked at a bookstore or not are the bookstore owners and buyers. All our books are listed in their catalogues. It is up to them whether they stock our books or not. It is obviously easier, from their point of view, to list more books on their websites than what they stock in their stores.

What rights do you take?

We take only those rights pertinent to what we want your book for. For example, if we do not intend to produce a book in audio format, or seek to have it promoted to movie people, we won’t ask for those rights in a contract. Normally we take print and digital rights only, but we may negotiate other rights with the author dependent on our plans for the book.

Can I read your contract wording?

Yes you can. Click here to open the contract wording up in PDF format. This is our standard contract wording. Depending on what is being published and what rights are being sought, certain clauses are negotiable.

Why do you want submissions in a certain format?

We do so because we work, read, and edit using this format. We also may pass submissions to other editors for their input. This standardises files for us and makes the process smoother, saving time and getting to decisions or publication quicker.

Can I buy author copies to sell myself and/or take to book signings and other events?

Yes you can, and we encourage this. We give a very healthy discount for author copies which will give you much more profit per copy than a sale royalty. We are perfectly happy if authors wish to sell books themselves in this way.

I have another question to ask. Where do I find the answer?
